Deciding who can access BetterMynd services at your institution
One of the early decisions you will make is to determine who can access services through your institution, and how they will get that access.
This article will provide some insight into discussions that can begin at your institution and will continue through onboarding.
How should I decide who can access services at my institution?
Think about why the campus is seeking services through BetterMynd. Are you hoping to provide access to counseling for all students? Is it meant to support a targeted group of students, like first-generation or athletes? You may have a few different goals or objectives.
Here are some questions to consider:
- Which students should have access to session credits?
- When does access begin (upon enrollment or start of term)?
- Will different student groups receive different session allowances?
- Do session credits reset (per term/year) or remain fixed?
- Are there gaps from a previous provider that need to be addressed?
All of this will be covered in your onboarding phase, but it can be helpful to begin discussions internally with your team ahead of that time.
What types of access does BetterMynd offer?
BetterMynd offers three types of access:
- Open Access
- We recommend open access at most institutions. This will limit barriers to students seeking support, and often identifies student groups that
- Hybrid Access
- Referral Access
